Google voice comes as a web-app to iPhone

So here's how it works: much like with its mobile Gmail site, the app caches your contacts list in a browser page. All the usual GV functionality is there, writing SMS messages, checking your inbox, and even listening to voicemails (although that latter functionality wasn't working for us yet in our trials). Placing phone calls is an interesting trick: as pictured above, after you choose the recipient, the app prompts you to call one of Google's local numbers via the native dialer -- even for international calls, hence the lower rates by paying through Google. The recipient will see your proper GV digits, and upside...

Visualizing Historic Browser Statistics with Axiis

For the beta release of Axiis I prepared a visualization showing the historical browser breakdown of visitors to W3schools.com. Since then I’ve enhanced it a bit, adding the ability to filter by browser type, and Tom lent his artistic eye and did a little restyling. Smooth Gestures - Google Chrome extension gallery

* Powerful customization of gestures in options tab
* check out the Split Tab and Merge Tab actions for managing windows
* for linux: may require double clicking right mouse button to get to the context menu (but this should work smoothly)
* Does not work on the new tab page, this extension website, or other chrome*:// pages due to security restrictions for extensions. But it does work on almost all http:// and https:// pages.

Harald Lambers about "Design for Relevance"

With new social-networking communities popping up continuously, 100,000 apps in the iPhone Appstore, 500+ contacts in multiple places, two to three email accounts per user, Internet feeds from multiple sources, and different end-user credentials to remember for each service, can people still manage their digital lives? If on top of this, a text message notifies you of a new voicemail and an email notifies you of a new status update, something is wrong and the burden to manage it all is on the end-user.
