As mobile phones become increasingly powerful and can store more data, we've introduced new methods of search to get you to your content faster, such as search suggestions or search by voice. But sometimes, typing to get to the right search suggestion takes too long, and you may be in a quiet environment where speaking a query is inappropriate. Today we're pleased to announce Gesture Search, a new Google Labs application for Android-powered devices running Android 2.0 or above in the US. Gesture Search lets you quickly find a contact, an installed application, a bookmark or a music track from hundreds or thousands of items, by simply drawing alphabet gestures on the touch screen.

YouTube on Google Android

I walk into the local coffee shop to get a dose of caffeine -- double espresso is my drink of choice. The Formula 1 race in Singapore was two weekends ago, the first night race F1 has ever held. I wonder if there are some highlights on YouTube. I slide open the keyboard and type "Formula 1 Singapore" and sure enough, there's a video with some footage from the first practice session. The cars look fantastic under the lights. I wonder if my friend Ken has seen this video. I click on the "Menu" button, select "Share," and up pops the email application - I know Ken will appreciate the video as much as I do.

Android phone officially unveiled today

More about the Android Phone:
T-Mobile, the country's fourth largest cell service provider, will unveil the G1 today, the first mobile phone to feature Google's Android operating system. The much-anticipated device, which would be iPhone's main competitor, is now said to come with free Gmail access, targeting Blackberry users.

Symbian vs. Android vs. LiMo vs.? - Mobile Internet Trend

Vodafone Group recently announced that CEO Arun Sarin would be retiring from his post in the near future, but two of Sarin's most recent speeches (at Mobile World Congress and the last CTIA show) will continue to resonate throughout the industry in the years to come. Sarin challenged the industry to whittle down the number of platforms or operating systems currently supported for mobile phones.
